China's 4G Deployment to Unleash US$25 Billion Business Opportunities: IDB
January 16, 2014

Taiwan's Industrial Development Bureau, Ministry of Economic Affairs (IDB, MOEA), estimated that China's telecom operators will set up around 500,000 base stations for 4G networks deployment this year, with a total procurement value topping US$25 billion, reported Commercial Times on January 16. China Mobile will build 400,000 base stations while China Unicom and China Telecom will establish 50,000 units, respectively. Taiwanese vendors, such as Gemtek, Unizyx, and Sercomm, will have a chance to benefit from strong demand for small cells and RF modules. IDB has unveiled a product testing platform for China's 4G technology, TD-LTE (Time Division-Long Term Evolution), in Taichung, aiming to help vendors expedite product time to market.
